Gadobitol is a gadolinium-containing contrast agent for nuclear spin tomography and has been approved in Germany since 2000 as Gadovist for the indication "Contrast enhancement of magnetic resonance Tomography (MRT) of the skull and spine". Gadobitol is a non-ionic complex composed of gadolinium (Ⅲ) and the macrocyclic ligand 10-(2, 3-dihydroxy-1 -(hydroxymethyl) propyl)-1, Chemicalbook4, 7, 10-tetraazecyclododecane 1, 4, 7-triacetic acid (butrol). Gadolinium-containing contrast agents have become the most widely used MRI contrast agent in clinical practice, and Gadobutol is the sixth gadolinium-based contrast agent approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for central nervous system resonance imaging.
